Wine has been grown in this region for more than two thousand years and wine-making has been elevated to the position of an art. From Chablis in the North, to Mâcon in the South, the vineyards consist of a myriad of plots. And these plots, depending on the type of their soils and sub-soils, exposure to the sun, altitude, microclimate, etc., are where very different wines are made, even though at times, the plots are a mere few metres away from one another. This veritable alchemy gives birth to prestigious Grands Crus: Romanée-Conti, Corton-Charlemagne, Bâtard-Montrachet, Clos-de-Vougeot, Chambertin, Châblis, etc.

The landscapes in Burgundy are extremely diverse and are riddled with historical sites: castles from all eras, secular abbeys, Roman and Gothic churches, medieval cities, and charming wine-producing villages the names of which are known all over the world: Vosne-Romanée, Vougeot, Chambolle-Musigny, Morey-Saint-Denis, Gevrey-Chambertin, Fixin, Marsannay, etc.

Burgundy is also very gastronomically rich, with renowned specialities, mustard from Dijon with the famous snails… from Burgundy , Mâconnais goat cheeses with the famous coq au vin in restaurants featured in the Michelin guide.
